Ethnic culture still embraces the totemic memory of the bear. In hunters’ community calendar festivals the Bear symbolised the cold half of the year. During festivities dressed characters used to lead the bear by a thread around its neck, make it dance or even offer the participants of the event to test strength with the animal in wrestling.
